Izaak Walton Golf Club Darell Cooper Memorial Trophy The first major trophy competition of the season took place at Izaak Walton Golf Club recently and it turned out to be a close run thing except for the winner. That turned out to be Ben Handley who scored 42 points in this stableford competition. Handley, playing off a handicap of 15. He was three points ahead of the rest of the field, and saw him drop two shots to 13 for his next competition. more

The Vodkat League Wigan Robin Park 2 Eccleshall 2 Eccleshall travelled to newcomers Wigan and included Paul Brice for the first time this season. First chance of the game fell to Eccleshall but Elliot Jackson, in a good position fired just over. Good movement by Wigan ended with Dean Galloway blasting over. more

Stafford CC 1sts In the Premier League of the North Staffs and South Cheshire Cricket league Stafford's relegation battle looks like going down to the wire with 3 games to go. On Saturday they entertained second from bottom Wood Lane at Riverway and the game ended in a draw. Wood Lane batted first and amassed an impressive 240-9. Professional Niroshan Bandaratilleke picked up 5 wickets with his left arm spin for Stafford and seamer Noel Hunt a first team personal best of 4-17. Stafford's reply was interrupted by rain a few times and they ended up holding out for the draw on 130-7. Mark Humphries and Mark Smallman batted it out. Stafford remain 3rd from bottom one place outside the relegation spots by 4 points and travel to Porthill Park this Saturday. Every game is now crucial for Richard Sharp's men. more
